GRASS SEED LIST 2003 

 Some seed is of limited quantities so please don’t  be offended if receive only a few seeds in some of the packets.

  • All seed names are correct as far as I know.

 

   Avena sterilis.          Annual grass for drying.

   Briza maxima.   Quaking grass.

   Briza media ‘Limouzi’ taller than type.    

   Briza media.          Common quaking grass.

   Briza triloba.   Different from other Briza’s in that the seed appears on one side of spike.

   Bromus secalinus.  

   Calamagrostis arundinicea

   Calamagrostis emodensis ssp. Nepal.

   Calamagrostis epigejos.

   Carex arenaria.

Carex berggrennii.

   Carex buchananii.   

   Carex comans ‘Bronze form’.

   Carex comans.   

Carex flacca  ‘Bias’  Leaves have a cream coloured band down one side.

   Carex flacca ssp. flacca.   Wide blue leaves.   

   Carex grayii   Strange seed head looks like a conker case.   

   Carex maclouiana.

   Carex pendula  ‘Moonraker’  Has bold yellow leaves till July then reverts to green.

   Juncus xiphiodes.   Leaves are more like Iris than a grass (Juncaceae).

   Melica altissima ‘Antropurpurea’.  Red melic grass

   Millium effuseum’ Yaffle’

   Molinia caerulea ‘Variegata’.

   Nassella trichotoma.   Needle grass similar to Stipa.

   Phaenosperma globosa.  6 foot + flower spike with wide strap leaves.

   Poa bulbosa.  Summer dormant antipodean.

   Poa chaixii.

   Stipa arundinacea. Synonym of Anemanthele lessoniana ‘what a mouthful’.

   Stipa brachytricha

   Stipa brandishii.

   Stipa bromiodes.

   Stipa calamagrostis.   

   Stipa capillata.   

   Stipa columbiana.

   Stipa comata.  Has blue tinge to leaves.

   Stipa robusta.  ‘sleepy grass’ has this affect on 4 legged beasts.

   Stipa tenuissima.

   Stipa turkestanica.

   Uncinia from Chile.

   Uncinia macrantha ‘Robusta’.  This came to me a few years back but I don’t remember were from. Not bad one for shade.   

   Uncinia rubra.   Mahogany sedge.

 I am primarily interested in grasses but feel free to offer what ever you have.
